Hand/Brain
On a single team, one person (brain) may see the board and is responsible for routing. A second person (hand) is in-game and must listen to the brain. This can be used for most gamemodes.
Time estimate: N/A
2v2
Two teams of two players compete to complete a goal, such as lockout, 3L, or blackout. Both players on each team are in-game. If lockout, only majority wins.
Time estimate: N/A
Lockout
Two players/teams join a lockout board (only one player/team can mark a goal, then the other team cannot mark it). The first player or team to get a line wins. If there are no lines available for their opponents, a team can win by marking the majority of goals (13).
Time estimate: 1 hour
3 Line (3L)
One or more players/teams join a non-lockout board and mark goals to complete 3 different lines.
Time estimate: 1 hour
Blackout
One or more players each complete every single goal on a non-lockout board.
Time estimate: 1.5 hours
Collaborative Blackout
Multiple players work together so that at least one player has marked each goal on a board.
Time estimate: 1 hour (2 players)
Itemsync Blackout
Multiple players work together so that at least one player has marked each goal on a board. Players use the Itemsync mod, so that whatever upgrades and items one player gets are given to the other player as well.
Time estimate: 50 minutes (2 players)
Blockout
One or more players/teams join a non-lockout board and mark any number of goals such that no line can be completed on the board without marking one of these goals. Typically played with an early-game goalpack.
Time estimate: 30-45 minutes
Random Goal Order (RGO)
One or more players join a non-lockout board and must complete goals in some predetermined order, usually reading order (left to right, top to bottom). Boards should be previewed for feasibility.
Time estimate: 2+ hours
Non-Lockout Checkerboard (NLOCB)
Two players/teams join a non-lockout board and may only mark goals within their parity of an alternating patern. Boards should be previewed for feasibility.
Time estimate: Variable
Galaxy
Four players join a non-lockout board and may only mark goals in a spiral pattern, leaving the center goal unmarked. Optionally, combine this with RGO, completing goals going inwards. Boards should be previewed for feasibility.
Time estimate: Variable
Air Traffic Control (ATC)
A variant of hand/brain where both players are hands while also braining the other player. Can also be played with three or more players braining around in a circle.
Time estimate: 1.5 hours
Area Blitz
Generate a custom board with all goals in a single area. The brain will instruct all necessary prep, then point their hand to the correct area and let them run solo. The board should be blackout-able without leaving the area from that point on.
Time estimate: Variable
Fraction
With a larger group of people, run a non-lockout board for a set time. Points are scored based on how many people mark the same goal. If one person marks a goal, they get one point. If two people mark a goal, they each get half a point. If four people mark a goal, they each get 0.25 points. Whoever earns the most points wins.
Time estimate: Predetermined
Wingy
Mostly normal bingy but when you pick up claw, debug it away and replace it with wings. Obtaining vanilla wings does nothing. Played significantly differently from regular bingy: see the Wingy Resources guide for more information.
Time estimate: 1 hour
Overworld Godhome Co-Op
Items are synced between Overworld players who start from a fresh save file and Godhome players who start in the Hall of Gods with all bosses and radiants unlocked, but no spells or items, and default charm noteches, masks, and soul vessels. Godhome players cannot access the top row in the Hall of Gods until their Overworld player obtains Mantis Claw. Played on a Godhome board.
Time estimate: 1.5 hours (3L)
Communication Gimmick Formats
Pictionary
A variant of hand/brain where the brain is deafened and may only communicate via Paint doodles. Usually an interpreter will watch the doodles and relay information to the hand, but this can be played without an interpreter.
Yes/No
A variant of hand/brain where the brain may only answer yes or no questions.
Up/Down/Left/Right
A variant of hand/brain where the brain may only say up, down, left, or right.
Bingy Bingy
A variant of hand/brain where the brain and optionally the hand may only say Bingy (using enunciation or partial syllables, etc).
Divorce
A variant of hand/brain with two brains, where the brains take turns saying one word at a time.
Singy
A variant of hand/brain where the brain must communicate by singing song lyrics.
Lingy
A variant of hand/brain where the brain must exclusively speak in a language that the hand does not understand. Reliance on "yes/no" is discouraged.
Reverse Lingy
A variant of hand/brain where the brain must exclusively speak in a language that the brain does not understand, but the hand does.
Meme Formats
1 Brain 2 Hands
Two brains with different objectives (usually different boards) must agree on a route to get a single hand to complete both of their goals.
Gambling
A third-party moderator will reveal a new goal at the start of the game and after x minutes. If a player has completed all currently revealed goals, they win. Goals may be handpicked or drawn from a board. They should be writen in chat, and when a player completes a goal, either the player or the moderator will react to that message. For fast games, consider 10,9,8,7,6,5,5,5... Optionally if running a godhome board from KP, try 20,15,10,10,10...
Board Art
Attempt to draw a picture on the board. This could be a creeper face, Loss, you could you 10 save files to make a rainbow, etc.
Blind
Attempt to complete one or more lines without ever seeing the board. A third-party person may optionally tell them when a goal is completed or how many lines have progress.
Inverted 3 Line
Mark every goal except for the goals in three lines of your choice.
Double Board
After completing the first board in your preferred method, connect to a second board with the same save file and do the same or a similar gamemode.
Adversarial 3-Line
You and your opponent(s) may choose one or more lines that the other is required to complete as part of their three lines.
Bing of the Hill
A variant of ATC where any number of people are simultaneously braining multiple others while being brained by multiple other people, each on different boards. A subtle variation of this is where a group of 4 brain each other for each of 12 lines on the same board.
Unbench
A 10-player format played in 2 teams of 5 on a lockout board, where each goal is a bench that is marked by sitting on it, and unmarked by changing your bench or getting a different hardsave. In order to win, all five players on a team must have their bench at each of the goals in a line at the same time. Blocking all lines without winning loses the game, to prevent stalling.
12gy
Roll a board and complete one line, then roll a second board and choose a different line, eventually completing 12 boards within the same save file, covering each row, column, and diagonal exactly once.
Chaos Lockout
More than two teams/players attempt a lockout game. A player/team is only locked out once (total number of players / 2) have marked a goal (rounded up).
Bingyguessr
A third-party moderator sends cropped screenshots of the game where a bingy goal can be completed. Players try to deduce what goal it is and complete that goal from a fresh file. After the first player has marked the goal, the moderator sends a larger crop of the same screenshot. After a player successfully marks a goal, they start a timer of 3 minutes before they are able to move again. If the timer expires before the moderator has sent the next goal's image, players who have completed the goal may begin to move again and go after whatever progession they want to fill the time. When the second to last person marks the goal, all active timers are nullified and the moderator sends a new screenshot of a new goal. Points are given to players corresponding to who marked each goal first, seconds, etc. The player with the most points after five goals wins.
Intrusive Thoughts
A variant of hand/brain with two brains, one of whom is attempting to cause the hand to take as much time as possible, potentially with the goal of losing to another team.
Crossover Bingy
A bingy where two or more players play on different boards, optionally for different games, marking the goals the other player completes on their board. This can be collaborative (i.e. blackout), or competitive (i.e. lockout).
