Bingy Rules

Casual and tournament bingy games, unless otherwise determined before the race, are played with the speedrunning NMG Ruleset with some modifications. You will want to familiarize yourself with the list of banned/allowed glitches for the NMG ruleset. Note that most of the guidelines for submissions and timing runs do not apply due to the nature of bingy. Usually, the winner of a bingy game is based on RTA rather than in-game or load-removed time.

Banned Glitches

Some of the common banned glitches are summarized below:

Any Invulnerability glitch

Any Out of Bounds glitch

Any glitch that results in an invisible character or will result in a invisible character with no additional player input

Any form of item duplication

Inventory Storage

Inventory Scream Skips

Wallcling Storage

Float glitch

Superslides

Quick Map stalls/storage

Dreamgating in a way that allows a Dirtcarver to spawn in a room it would not ordinarily spawn in.

In addition to these NMG banned glitches, the bingy community has voted to ban IBaldur in Tournament 4 matches. For the Wingy format, Shrogo is also banned. Slopeballs/Stallballs have historically been banned, but there was recently a vote to unban them, and which may come into effect after Tournament 4 concludes. This differs from the NMG ruleset used in speedrunning. Deviations from this ruleset can be used in casual games with prior discussion with other players.

Minor glitches such as inventory drops and lever skips are allowed within the bingy ruleset. QOL settings should be left default unless otherwise agreed.

NMG Rules Doc

Accidental use of glitches may be ignored if the player realizes and attempts to fix the problem quickly. For tournament races, this is usually left up to the TOs and may result in a disqualification or automatic loss.

General Rules

Standard mods are BingoSync, BingoGoalPack1, QoL (default settings), Benchwarp (Warp Only on, Deploy off), BingoUI, Load Normalizer (default settings). More detail in Mods.

Other than standard mods, we generally only allow purely cosmetic mods, that do not provide a competitive advantage, e.g. CustomKnight, TransTrans, Elderbugnest.

Major glitches are banned.

Stream-sniping or getting help from players outside of the game is not allowed.

When starting a game, players drop straight down into King's Pass, fully wake up from the hardfall animation, when pause. The players count down, and on "go" they're allowed to reveal the board and start moving.

Additional edge cases are covered in the Bingy Edge Case Rulings google document.

Hand/brain communication rules can be found in this document.

Using the wiki and similar resources during a game is allowed.

Having the board up on a second monitor is allowed.

The password is always "fast".

Community Decisions

  • The 3 collector grubs count towards the "Save the 5 grubs in CoT" goal.
  • The Enemy HP Bar mod provides a competitive advantage, and is therefore banned.
  • Warping immediately after killing the Sanctum-entrance Soul Warrior and killing it again to mark the "Kill 2 Soul Warriors" goal is banned.
  • After putting 1500 geo in the bank, you may withdraw the geo.

Cheating

There is a zero-tolerance policy for intentionally cheating, and users will be punished accordingly, be it in a tournament match or a casual race. Due to the severity of cheating and the punishment it carries, don't make joke accusations and intentional malicious false accusations will be met with just as severe consequences.

Cheating includes, but is not limited to (Unless otherwise agreed):

Intentionally using major glitches to gain a competitve advantage.

Stream sniping.

Using banned mods such as Debug or mods that provide a competitive advantage.

Warping to benches with benchwarp that are not the most recent bench/hardsave you have sat at/obtained.

Warping to Great Slash (unless that was your last bench).
