Getting Started with Bingy!

BINGY

Hollow Knight Bingy (Vanilla Bingo) is a way of playing Hollow Knight where you generate a 5-by-5 board of bingo goals, and try to complete some amount of goals on that board as fast as possible. The specific goal of the bingy depends on the format, which can be solo, competitive, or collaborative. To read more about these, visit the formats page!

If this is your first time playing Bingy, I would recommend starting with the mods page to get set up. Once you've installed the correct mods, you'll need to create a room in bingosync (the password is always "fast"). It doesn't actually matter what game you select, since you can just generate a new board from inside Hollow Knight once it's open, though there is a Hollow Knight option. Once you've launched the game, make sure to familiarise yourself with your BingoSync hotkeys - you can change them if you want, just make sure you remember what they are! The mods page will have more detail on how to use BingoSync, but the basic gist is to paste the link to the room you created, add a nickname, enter the password (it's always "fast"), and (optionally) generate a board. Now you can enter a new vanilla save file, reveal the board, and start playing!

If you plan to race other people in 3-line, or play a lockout format, you should probably read over the rules. You might want to play a format with Itemsync, and the itemsync guide has a good explanation on how to do that (though you'll want to randomise nothing and select "Sync Vanilla Items"). If you're looking for people to play with or against, make sure to join the Official Bingy Discord!

There are lots of things you can do to optimize your speed in a bingy, the biggest factors being routing, movement, and skips. References for the latter two can be found on the skips page, and the resources page includes links to a few different guides & information for routing.

And remember, the password is always "fast".
